The National Museum of Funeral History
opened its doors on the evening of October 18, 1992. Mr. Robert L. Waltrip founded the Museum after 25 years of dreaming of an institution that would educate the public and preserve the rich heritage of the funeral industry.
In 1993 the National Museum of Funeral History
received its 501 (c) 3 non-for-profit designation from the Internal Revenue
Service. With over 20,000 square feet of exhibition space the National Museum
of Funeral History is the largest educational center on Funeral Heritage
in the United States and perhaps the world. Since the Museum is a 501 (c) 3
organization all profits raised by donations, admissions, and gift shop sales
go towards the operation of the Museum.
To continue to preserve and expand it's one
of a kind collection the National Museum of Funeral History depends on
its generous donations from donors of all walks of life. The Museum has two
golf tournaments annually being the primary fundraiser for the Museum. We also
have a large family of Museum Members and Patrons who continue to support the
Museum by their donations and visitations. For more information of becoming
